Scariest Moveon e-mail ever
Okay, so I don’t usually read any of the three e-mails that Moveon sends me….
But this one at first really freaked me out.Â
Â
I tried to change the name in it to U of M students but it wouldn’t e-mail the copy.
But yeah, they sent me a free Obama t-shirt the other day (like seriously, I didn’t even have to pay for shipping and its totally my size) so I decided I’ll read those damn e-mails since I haven’t actually volunteered with them anyways.

Political Forecast | Hurricane Ike Will be Worse Than You Think: Houston Will be Ground Zero
Remember how, just a little over a week ago, everybody was frantically panicking over Hurricane Gustav, saying it would be perhaps worse than Katrina?
Well, it was clear at least a day or two before landfall that Gustav was not going to be a Katrina, and while the panic may have helped everyone take the storm seriously then, it certainly has hurt when it comes to Hurricane Ike.
Presently, Ike is one of the largest hurricanes in history, with hurricane force winds (75MPH+) extending over 100 miles away from the storm center. Recently, the Shell Oil Platform, which rises about 400 feet above the sea surface in the Gulf of Mexico, reported sustained winds of 125MPH, and based on satellite imagery, Ike is currently strengthening and will probably make landfall as a borderline Category 3, or major, hurricane. That means that sustained winds of 115MPH are likely, with gusts to 130MPH.
THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS STORM THAT IS BEING DOWNPLAYED! (more…)
