Mark Chou's Take: He's Gonna Get His Way

It looks like Roland Burris is going to get his way and will be seated later this week in the US Senate. Even though he was appointed by a governor charged with attempting to sell this senate seat, democrats want to come together and allow Mr. Burris to take his seat. I am anything but thrilled. I am not a fan of Roland Burris at all. He’s a self-absorbed failed politician who wants to be the comeback kid. Not on my watch, sir. The worst part of Roland Burris is that he already set up his memorial in Chicago (see picture above). Also, his kids’ names are “Roland” (of course) and “Rolanda”–an obvious feminine twist on his name. For reals. On legal terms, Roland Burris has the right to take this seat. However, I don’t think he earns the respect nor the approval of the people of Illinois. This is not great news because he will have to be re-elected next year, and people are already sick of him.
