Get Involved

Welcome to College Democrats at the University of Michigan!
Whether you’re a freshman or a seniorĀ (or anywhere in between), College Democrats offers opportunities for campus activism, policy advocacy, and progressive fellowship. It’s easy to get involved; just attend any one of our meetings, sign up for our email list, or connect with us via social media.

Attend our mass meeting.
We hold mass meetings in September and January each year to give perspective members the opportunity to learn about our organization, meet our current members, and stock up on College Democrats swag. Our mass meetings often feature speeches by prominent Michigan politicians, including Congressman John D. Dingell, State Senator Rebekah Warren, and State Representative Jeff Irwin. All students interested in joining College Democrats are welcome to attend!

Stop by Kick-Ass Thursday.
We hold weekly meetings every Thursday at 8:00 pm during the academic year. These meetings, known as “Kick-Ass Thursday” within the organization, offer information about policy issues, provide opportunities for progressive activism, and allow members to get to know each other better. Kick-Ass Thursday is almost always held in the Michigan Union or the Michigan League; be sure to check our calendar for weekly location information!

Join a committee.
College Democrats has a wide array of committees focused on different elements of Democratic politics and progressive policy. See our committees page for information on meeting times and locations or to get in touch with any of our committee chairs.

Sign up for our email list.
Our listserv is a fast and easy way to keep in touch. It provides information about upcoming meetings, volunteer opportunities, and campus events. Please complete this form and we’ll add you as soon as possible! We do not share contact information with any outside organizations.

Connect with us online.
Like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for updates on our activities throughout the year. And don’t forget to read our blog at!
