Military Makes Push for Alternative Energy

In this article from the Wall Street Journal, the author discusses how the military is trying to wean itself off of oil. I think some of the numbers the article provides are quite striking. For further explanation on them and why they are important, read the article.

#1: Crude futures set a record high at $129.07 a barrel on Tuesday.

#2: The US military consumes 340,000 barrels of oil a day (1.5% of all the oil used in the country).

#3: The Air Force uses 10% of domestic aviation fuel.

#4: Artificial fuel should be able to sell for $55 a barrel once commercial refineries are built.
