Governor Granholm’s officed release this photo of our dearest Governor upholding her end of a bet with North Carolina’s Governor Perdue. In addition to posing with North Carolina athletic gear and eating a Krispy Kreme with North Carolina blue icing she also personally donated $100 to a charity of Governor Perdue’s choice.
Note the Michigan State Ball strategically placed in the background.
May this never happen again.

The Politico | Drudge 2.0
![]()
Like Drudge Report, but with boring writing.
Why is that we are one week into the Obama Administration and The Politico is already falling over itself to become the voice of the Republican opposition. This young, it is only two years old, organization has gone from a small print D.C. operation to employing a large staff and being featured regularly on MSNBC.
The Politico provided excellent analysis and reporting throughout the primary season and the summer leading into the general election, but since then the tone of the organization has changed drastically. Now, The Politico specializes in criticizing President Obama, which is remarkable considering his Administration is barely a week old. For example, in the last month here are several banner headlines from the front page of their website:
+ “Good Gov’t Agenda Sails Into Headwind”
+ “What We Don’t Know About Obama”
+ “Top Dems Obama Should Watch Out For”
+ “Wall Street Invested Heavily in Obama”
The problem with these stories is not the fact that The Politico is reporting them, but rather the consistent tone this organization takes towards the news. It seems to be racing to nail Obama to several different crosses:

Kanye Likes These Shoes. He Designed These Shoes. You Should Buy These Shoes
I am living in a global snow globe. You are living in the same snow globe. I realize that I have fallen crazy behind in my duties as Blog Digester (Bligester in Chief), which is a life path that I now regret. I have recently accquired a new obsession (don’t worry Kanye this is only temporary) and his name is Blagojevich, which is my first story in this digest.
From YOUTUBES: If you have not seen the most recent press conference from The Great Governor of Illinois, then you are missing out.
From Lifehacker: Is that trek from Markley to the Union killing your beautifully delicate hands? Maybe this is only a problem I seem to have. Lifehacker has a link that answers everything.
From Juan Cole: Five Representatives voted No and 22 voted Present on the recent bill “supporting” Israel. John Dingell was on of those voting present.
From Videogum: Have you starting following the most recent season of The Real World: Egler (Brooklyn (Strange place in NYC with a fake boat prop out front)) Edition? Here is a funny conversation about the direction of this show that has become a stable in our lives.
From Slate: Hate moving? Try moving out of the White House after living there for eight years. Here is how it is done!
From Politico: Actually – Nothing from the Politico. I am boycotting them until they stop writing “THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS FAILING AND WILL DISOLVE BY VALENTINES DAY. WHY VALENTINES DAY? BECUASE NO ONE LOVES THEM!!!!!!!!1!!!!1!!!!3 stories.
From Lindsay (Failblog): people falling. Lindsay laughed for about 7 minutes.
From Kanye: KANYE IS EXCITED!!! Also – parenting tips.
From the Detroit Free Press: The Detroit Auto Show is here! Want to see how the auto industry is going to survive? Check out the future of the automobile here.
From Indexed: Want to figure out exactly how a College Dems party works?

Douche of the Day | VP Dick Cheney
Popped Collars and Cowboy Hats for the Unitary Executive
Dick Cheney does it again… he proves on national television that he just does not care. In a spate of recent interviews Cheney has defended all of the Administration’s action from Iraq run up to cussing out Patrick Leahy on the floor of the Senate. He also took a swipe at Joe Biden on Fox News saying…
“Joe’s been chairman of the Judiciary Committee, a member of the Judiciary Committee in the Senate for 36 years, teaches constitutional law back in Delaware, and can’t keep straight which article of the Constitution provides for the legislature and which provides for the executive.”
On all accounts it seems like Dick Cheney is the only Administration figure seriously impedeing any sort of smooth tranistion between the Bush and Obama Aministrations. Here Cheney takes a swipe at Biden for a slip during a debate, and it should be noted that the Constitutional Scholar Sarah Palin didn’t correct Biden during that debate. For all the “extra constitutional” things the Bush Administration has done you would think they would be a bit more humble when critiquing another politican’s knowledge of the Constitution.
Video after the jump…
Quote of the Day
“It has been extremely frustrating, and I have probably used some words I should not be using.â€
~ Governor Gladiator (Granholm) on her battles with the media, pundits, and Mitt Romney. Read this great Detroit Free Press article about our Governor’s quest on behalf of our state. Another great quote from the article:
But the feisty and hard-charging governor, who ran a half-marathon in less than two hours this fall, also is easily angered by injustice, and she thinks the automakers and her state are being wrongly maligned.

Mitch Albom's Righteous Anger
I usually classify Mitch Albom under the category of “really annoying, over rated journalist/novelist,” but this Op-Ed in today’s Detroit Free Press showed some great passion on behalf of the State of Michigan.
Do you want to watch us drown? Is that it? Do want to see the last gurgle of economic air spit from our lips? If so, senators, know this: You’ll go down with us. America isn’t America without an auto industry. You can argue whether $14 billion would have saved it, but you surely tried to kill it.
We have grease on our hands.
You have blood.Kill the car, kill the country. History will show that when America was on its knees, a handful of lawmakers tried to cut off its feet. And blame the workers. How suddenly did the workers — a small percentage of a car’s cost — become justification for crushing an industry?
That’s right Mitch. Get angry. Stop writing 45 page books and show the nation that the pen is mightier than a cabal of idiot, southern senators. Thank you.
Merry F***in Christmas
GM announces it will temporarily close 21 auto plants in the United States.
Granholm Alert – The Governor will be debating Mitt Romney this Sunday on Meet The Press… glorious.
Update – How am I in agreement with Dick Cheney!? When he was personally lobbying Senate Republicans he warned them that:
“If we don’t do this, we will be known as the party of Herbert Hoover forever.”

Make No Mistake…
It was the Senate Republicans that killed the negotiations over the auto industry bailout.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell came out strongly today against the legislation and the ongoing negotiations. The reason they killed this short term “bridge loan?” It did not do enough to quickly decrease American auto worker wages.
It is amazing that at a time where Republicans have joined Democrats in support of bring change and hope to the auto industry (see Thadeus McCotter’s remarks before the House vote) we still see a few Senators clinging to partisanship in a time of crisis. No one was demanding that the financial industry lower the wages of its hourly workers when they got bailed out.
And what have the Republicans done?
