Hope
Last week Governor Gladiator (Granholm) announced the creation of nearly 7,500 jobs in the State of Michigan and billions of dollars that are going to be invested in these new jobs.
Also, last week President Bush bypassed the Southern Resistance (Senators Corker, McConnell, and Shelby) and created his own auto industry bailout. Funny thing was, the bailout turned out to be almost exactly like what the Senate would have passed two weeks ago. This will aid the industry in these next couple of months and hopefully usher a new era of strength in the American auto industry. You have to give it up to the UAW, the Big Three, Democrats, and President Bush (gasp) for working together and seeing the need to stand with the American worker.
One more thing on the Southern Resistance – (more…)

Granholm v. Romney | Meet the Press
Today Governor Gladiator (Granholm) went up against Mitt Romney (one time governor, one time presidential candidate, current fool) on Meet the Press today.
Mitt Romney. Remember when you were heralded for that innovative health care program in MA? Why do you suddenly forget that health care is the greatest weigh on our economy when you are in the spotlight? It is completely irresponsible to call for drastic wage decreases when the greatest difference are health care legacy costs.

Granholm for Secretary of Energy?
Speculation continues that our Governor, Jennifer Granholm, may be tapped to serve as Energy Secretary in Obama’s Cabinet.
Gov. Jennifer Granholm will huddle today in Washington, D.C., with President-elect Barack Obama’s transition team on energy issues, stoking speculation that she may be appointed U.S. Energy secretary.
Aides to the governor said her business in the nation’s capital is related to policy, not a Cabinet appointment. But they acknowledged her meeting with Obama’s energy advisers is bound to raise more questions about the possibility she will resign in the middle of her term to take a job with the new administration.

Great Lakes Great Importance

Shawty wanna thug
Waking up this morning to peruse the news, I was pleased to see our governor, Jennifer Granholm, on the main page of the Times. This article does a very interesting, and pretty unbiased job of discussing the fact that Michigan is a microcosm of the large economic crisis. (more…)

Where I was yesterday.
Back to my daily* run down of 5 interesting and thought provoking items on the internet. These stories might inspire you to race to the “write” page and churn out your very own blog post. Hope you all enjoy.
*Not actually daily.
From The New York Times: An extremely interesting article about the Pentagon’s influence on military “analysts” and their role in craft the public’s image of the war, its justifications, and its failures. An excellent expose on how the Administration has carefully groomed and placed these retired generals to best influence public opinion. A Must Read.
From Talking Points Memo: What game is Drudge playing by running the headline that internal Clinton polls show her 11 points ahead. Her campaign has been accused of colluding with him in the past – is this another example?
From Michigan Liberal: Governor Granholm is set to announce 6,600 new jobs for Kalamazoo in the bio industry… taking over the huge abandoned Pfizer facilities left vacant.
From Harvard: A look at humorous campaign “mash up” videos and why they all seem to be referencing the 80s.
From Jack Lessenberry: Why MI Rep. Thaddeus McCotter HAD to vote for the unemployment bill – breaking with President Bush, and why “all politics is local.”

Revelation from the Governor
Governor Granholm spoke at a conference put on by the Michigan Federation of College Democrats today (group shot above), discussing education and the economy, as well as other hot button issues during a question and answer period. While I always enjoy hearing the Governor speak, there was a tidbit that she mentioned that I had not heard people talk much about before. She said (note I’m paraphrasing here) that Michigan will be climbing out of its economic troubles in 2009.
