Michelle Obama plays dress up

Christian Lacroix sketch for Michelle Obama.

Michelle Obama is an incredibly talented, intelligent woman. I often hate how the media is more fixated on her fashion choices or her rear end than her other contributions to this campaign. However, I’ve come to the realization that for many American’s Michelle’s wardrobe is very much a symbol of  the successful working woman. While Cindy and Sarah bought thousands of dollars worth of designer clothes, Michelle has used her affordable but fashionable choices to speak to women across the country. Michelle is know for choosing affordable items (JCrew, White House | Black Market), supporting local Chicago designers (Maria Pinto), and supporting young designers (Thakoon).

With that being said, I now feel it’s okay for me to unleash my inner middle school girl. (Let’s go to the mall!)

As we head to the inaguration the fashion world is clamoring to design for Michelle. WWD, the AP of the fashion industry, solicited designs for Michelle’s inagural wear (both daytime and formal). I can hardly wait to see what she chooses! Eek!

The complete set is behind the cut. Read before you vote!
