Roger's Law
Today, the College Democrats Students Issues Committee (SIC) held a forum on Roger's Law. In short, we learned that Roger's Law was enacted with the alleged purpose of preventing voter fraud, and it actually has worked to disenfranchise thousands of students, senior citizens, and other potential voters. The law was passed in 1999, so it has largely gone off the radar. However, the consequences are being felt.
Kudos to SIC for holding this event and raising awareness of this issue. Although the law was passed almost a decade ago, it is never too late to eliminate a bad law. As one cliche goes, "There's no time like the present!"
